Grats, Balnoran!

Not to rub it in for anyone who still hasn’t been able to patch and log on… but congratulations to Balnoran, our kin’s first Level 66  67  70!

And on a related note: I am about to master Westfold cooking – so when you ding 66, send me an in-game mail and I’ll make sure you’re well-supplied for your journey into the new frontier.  🙂  (And if you come across any interesting cooking/farming recipes that you don’t need, please keep me in mind!)

Caveats

Upon winning the patch-and-connect lottery and logging in for the first time after RoI, there are a few things you should note:

  1. You probably already know that your class skills will have changed.  (If not, see JTweezy’s earlier post and read the dev notes. Thoroughly.)  What you may not be aware of is that LI points have been refunded as well.  Be sure to note this before charging into battle.
  2. There have been many reports of plugins causing game client crashes, due to changes to the LUA.  Probably best to run without plugins until this is resolved.
  3. The new areas are running with “multiple dynamic layers” and I’ve found them a bit glitchy – i.e. you stop to loot something in a deserted area, then look up and find five mobs have suddenly materialized around you.  Be alert for this; if you’re like me, under-leveled but still wanting to see the ‘new world’, it can and will be the death of you.
  4. (ETA) If you’re leveling Westfold farming, be sure to use SINGLE recipes, not bulk, and regular rather than hearty fields; you’ll level much more quickly that way.  It ought to take 100 fields to level you through mastery – and at this point, bilberries are probably the most useful thing to grow.
If I think of anything else useful to add, I will; if you have any pointers to add, please comment!

The Hobbits are going to Isengard!

A few screenshots from my initial explorations:

Dunland, somewhere near Galtrev.

Another view from the same spot (with Balnoran)

That cow over there?  Could whomp me into next week.  I’m just sayin’.

Heading south from Dunland into Wulf’s Cleft.

Looking down from the Cleft into the Gap of Rohan.

I’m going to leap down and see what I can see (assuming I don’t die).  (ETA: except that I can’t, so don’t try getting there that way.  😉

Well travelled, indeed.  😉

Wish me luck!
(ETA: the journey continues…)

Update notes for RoI

I hope everyone has had or will have the time to read through the update notes for the expansion/update.  There is a LOT of information in there. I do admit: most is good, some is bad depending on your class or perspective.

For example though, this is a goodie:

“The /stuck and /unstuck commands now transport characters to the closest rally point so they stay closer to the front lines! Additionally /stuck and /unstuck no longer share a cooldown with Milestone skills. ”

Please take the time to read through, especially notes on your specific class. And as always, Happy hunting and stay AWESOME!

LOTRO Artwork

Greetings, fellow kinsmen and women! I’ve made some LOTRO inspired artwork among my other Art studies, and got an idea to share them here. Enjoy!

Omnymax Moonborne, our great leader and lore-master extraordinaire.

And here is my own character Blanzeflor, an Elven Huntress.

I used screenshots for details like hairstyle, clothing and jewellery but mostly I drew them the way they look like in my mind. Both sketches are made with pencil and paper, apart from the sepia colour and the backround texture that are added in Photoshop. Feel free to post your opinions! I also take requests for any future projects.
