Leader Labour :p

Hello Kinnies!

This is a post just to tell you guys that I’m going to be off for a couple of weeks. I have just switched jobs and have been working 10 more hours per week than i used to. This will soon be reverted and I’ll be online as usual.

I hope to see you all very soon.
Miss the fun…

A creepy feeling

I have been playing a creep for the last few weeks. A warg called Omnyevil 🙂
I admit i`m having lots of fun with it. The combat goes to another level when the adversary has human intelligence.

In the other hand, people suck at moors. The friendly environment we built inside our kinship is strongly confronted by some very rude people. It is amazingly hard to find some decent folk who helps other leveling and questing. There is no nice in moors.

I can`t say how freeps act with each other, but creeps are mostly uncool.

So, if you ever want to enjoy a litle creep time, beware of this unfriendly behavior. Don`t go there to make friends 🙂 But if you want one, I`m there.

Today’s Awesome: Custom Emotes in Four Simple Steps

Today, I am going to show you how to do something Awesome in a few very simple steps. Here we go.

Log into the game. Stand in a quiet place, next to an NPC. Make sure nothing is selected. Then type:

/cheer

You will perform the “cheer” emote, and the chat text will say “You cheer.” to you, and “Yourtoon cheers.” to others. Simple and familiar, yeah?

Now type:

/cheer thinks this is awesome!

You will perform the “cheer” emote, and the chat text will say, “Yourtoon thinks this is awesome!”

Now target the NPC, and type:

/cheer thinks ;target is awesome!

You will perform the “cheer” emote, and the chat text will say, “Yourtoon thinks Npcname is awesome!”

Cool, huh?

Now type this:

/alias ;isawesome /cheer thinks ;target is awesome!

Then select your chatbox input window (or type /say first) and type:

;isawesome

Now you’ve got that custom emote down to a single word. But typing a semicolon doesn’t autoselect the chatbox, and unwanted keystrokes can be problematic, so now you’ll want to do this:

/alias shortcut ;isawesome 1

which will assign the alias to the first button on your toolbar. From there, you can drag them to any button you want.

Pretty cool, huh?

Note that if you do NOT have something selected, ;target will return as itself, like: “Yourtoon thinks ;target is awesome!” Therefore, you’ll need to make two versions of things. If you have more than one or two custom aliases, you’ll want to use something like TonicBars to keep them straight – or a text file to copy and paste from, if you don’t use plugins.

You can use /alias remove ;isawesome to remove a single alias, and /alias list to list all the ones you’ve made. BE CAREFUL of /alias clear, as it will clear your ENTIRE list… and if you get fancy, keep backups of your work in case you do exactly that someday. 😉

There ya go. Enjoy!

(Another cool built-in alias is ;loc – try it!)

Yule Songs, and: Party Time!

In the Grand Tradition of the First Party at Mieja’s,
Halfdrunken Presentations, uh, presents:

Another Party At Mieja’s
Saturday, 17th December

6 Roaring Road, Kaldgrun, Thorin’s Hall Homesteads

Live Music – Open Bar – Buffet
Seven Varieties of Prime Pipe-Weed
and now featuring: Coffee!

Dress To Impress (or at least, to amuse!)

starting time: whenever I wake up and log on
ending time: whenever the last person passes out

bring: instruments, fishing poles, festival pranks, noisemakers, fireworks, implements of chaos – anything interesting, entertaining, destructive or loud (toddlers not included)

If you can’t make it this time, don’t fret… there’ll be more.  🙂

And while we’re on the subject of partying and holidays:

With the holidays close at hand, I thought it’d be nice to put together a “set list” of ABC songfiles that people could download and play in interchangeable groups, to make “holiday caroling” easier and more fun…  I’ve assembled 12 songs ranging from traditional to contemporary to quirky, all playable by three or more members, and by the same three instruments to avoid the need for instrument changes.  You can view the set list, and download a zip archive of songfiles (or individual songs) here:

Our Band Is Awesome: Yule Set List (at isawesome.7-d.org)

Grab ’em before the party if you can, so we can give ’em a live test…

Hope to see you there!

U5 Caveat: “Enable Movement Assistance in Combat” Broken (Badly)

…I hate to step on an epic post about an epic event by posting immediately afterwards, but this is important and I keep forgetting to mention it:

Anyone who has “Enable Movement Assistance In Combat” who is NOT melee must disable it immediately.  Update 5 broke it badly, and instead of simply turning you to face your target, it makes you run to your target – which, for casters and ranged types, generally means you cannot attack at all.  The “known issues” mentions this, but doesn’t (in my opinion) emphasize it strongly enough; I found this out the hard way, via a quick and painful death; I’d like to avert the same fate for others.  🙂

Treasure Hunt preview, Cave-claw Masked Horse Festival Mount, and a warm re-welcome to old friends…

Not in that order, but yeah.

Today was kind of ridiculously epic, featuring not only the debut of U5 (COFFEE! but more on that at another time) but also the return of two founding members of Is Awesome after a long absence… an absence so long that most of us weren’t quite sure who they were.  Fortunately, that was swiftly remedied; and it’s good to welcome them back (and to our new members, simply welcome them) into the family of Awesome, just in time for the holidays.

And speaking of holidays, without warning, we were treated to a sudden blast of bright orange World Announcement text: 2-Hour Preview of New Treasure Hunt Event, NOW NOW NOW, and so off we flocked to the armpit of Ered Luin (the Low-lands, to be specific) where we (the Awesome) and pretty much the rest of Brandywine ran around like chickens with our heads cut off for two hours.  The whole thing was quite merry, and worked surprisingly well for what had to be a first live test, and there were some lovely new rewards to be had by all…

…and then, there was THIS.

Behold: the Cave-claw Masked Mount, a rare festival drop from the event-to-be, the Treasure Hunt.

How rare, I don’t yet know – haven’t checked the official forums or googled it – but I know that our man-of-the-hour Odin was the only one on chat crowing about it (and apparently receiving some fair amount of disbelief in return) so I’m guessing it’s going to be a rare drop and/or a store item.  We do know, though, that it’s one of the high-tier mounts – 68% run speed and 250 morale, like the best reputation and deed mounts, and the ones for sale in the LoTRO store.

And our newly-returned prodigal kinsman was the one who dug up the lucky treasure… which is, of course, AWESOME.  =)

More pics of the mount after the cut, and more shots of other Treasure Hunt cosmetics in a later post.

New: Kinship Community Center (the forum)

So after discussion with Omnymax, and a lot of tweaking, I’ve put together a forum for kinship use.  The URL is http://isawesome.7-d.org.

My idea is to give us a place where we can possibly discuss organization of raids and parties, stuff we need or have for trade, or just any old thing we might want 🙂 in a private, members-only setting. There’s a lot of capability to add and change things as needed.  Of particular interest, maybe, is that I’ve linked the data.lotro.com kinship feed into the forum, so that we can associate our characters with our accounts and have the information automatically update as we level… I’m hoping to add more capability to this in the future.

I still consider the forum to be “in beta” but it’d be useful to have people signing up and using the thing, so we can figure out how best to use it and so I can fix anything that breaks.  🙂   So come check it out, when you have a chance!
